Carrie Underwood — whose life has been a whirlwind since being crowned the American Idol winner in 2005 — has been tapped to film a VH1 Behind the Music special. The five-time Emmy nominated documentary series peels back the layers of some of music’s biggest and most influential stars. Previously, the show has uncovered stories of another country bombshell, Miranda Lambert, and fellow Idol alum, Adam Lambert.

Per this tweet from Blake Tinnell, she is currently filming the segment. No air date has been set.

With her fourth studio album and her 15th No. 1 country single under her belt, Underwood doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. Along with Hunter Hayes as her opener, the Checotah native kicks off her Blown Away tour this fall on September 14. Find out more info here.

Also, recently, Underwood and husband Mike Fisher celebrated their two-year anniversary. They were married on July 10, 2010 in Georgia. Looks like the superstar has a lot to be proud of this year.

Not known for waiting until the last moment to reveal its headliners, Minnesota’s WE Fest announces it will host Carrie Underwood & Keith Urban next year.

The fourth-season American Idol winner and Australia’s top country export are the first names to be announced for next year’s multiday extravaganza set for Aug. 1-3 at Detroit Lakes. Expect other names to be announced soon.

WE Fest 2012 featuring performances by Alabama, Toby Keith, Jason Aldean, Eric Church and more runs Aug. 2-4 at Detroit Lakes.

This week’s announcement about next year’s WE Fest isn’t the first time organizers have announced next year’s artists even though this year’s festival has yet to happen. Approximately one year ago promoters announced Alabama to headline in 2012.

Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher are celebrating their second wedding anniversary today, July 10, 2012. The couple snuck away to a plantation in Georgia for the July ceremony back in 2010. They had to fit the date around both the hockey star’s NHL schedule, and the country queen’s touring schedule — that’s no easy task.

“Happy anniversary @carrieunderwood!” Fisher tweeted on Tuesday. “Life is so much better with u in my life! Looking forward to many more!”

Underwood answered back with an equally sweet message. “Happy anniversary to my handsome, sweet, smart, wonderful husband!” she said. “Can’t believe it’s been 2 years! Time flies!”

After a tour of Australia and Europe, the happy couple is stateside to celebrate their romance and take some time off before Underwood’s Blown Away fall tour begins in September. Look back through the last two years and beyond in this collection of pictures from the time Fisher proposed to just last month at the 2012 CMT Music Awards.

Carrie Underwood wants to make sure she never embarrasses her future children and so tries to avoid awkward situations.

Carrie Underwood wants to make sure she never embarrasses her future children.

The country music singer – who is married to Canadian ice hockey player Mike Fisher – is always conscious she should not put herself into a situation which may come back to haunt her in later life.

She said: ”My motto is, ‘I don’t ever want to do anything that is going to embarrass my future children.’

”But other than that, I really just try not to think about being a role model and to just be who I am. If people feel like they can look up to that, that’s cool.”

Carrie tries to stay grounded and thinks it is ”weird” when people start leading unnecessarily lavish lifestyles because of their fame.

She said: ”When you get to the point when you’re private jetting all over the place and spending $2,000 on shoes, it gets weird and you’re not a real person any more.

”I met a young starlet and we were all going to hang out. She picked us up and she was in a Hummer and I was like, ‘Really, You’re not 20 yet and you’ve got a Hummer?’ ”

Carrie Underwood’s dogs make her life better.

The 29-year-old country singer – who is married to Canadian sports star Mike Fisher – admits she is happiest when she is around her pet pooches and her husband because they love her ”unconditionally”.

She said: ”What makes me happiest? My husband and my dogs Ace and Penny – they are just happy to see me, no matter what. I don’t have to explain anything to them; they love me unconditionally. They make my life better.”

Carrie rose to fame on ‘American Idol’ and she reveals she would love to have told her younger self not to get so stressed about the direction her career was taking her.

She said: ”At the beginning of my career, I was trying to work out how to keep up with everything and maintain my sanity. I probably got more stressed and worried than I should have.”

However, she does admit she continues to worry about how involved her family have become in the showbiz world.

She added: ”Sometimes mom will call and say, ‘There was someone sitting outside in a car park taking pictures for two hours.’

”I don’t think that my decisions should have affected their lives the way it has. But they have dealt with it really well.”

The popular country singer does reveal that, after a while, she gets tired of her own voice.

I’ve often wondered if musicians every get tired of hearing their own songs, especially those infectious tracks (remember when we couldn’t escape “Before He Cheats”?).  The artist has to perform the song at every concert and, of course, sang it multiple times while laying down the tracks in the studio.

Carrie Underwood has shed some light on how she feels about the matter.

While the country music superstar is proud of her latest album, Blown Away, she does confess that there is a point where it all becomes a little much. She says: “In the beginning, when you make the album, you just want to make sure everything’s perfect.  So I do listen to it quite a bit in the beginning, and then after that, it’s like, ‘I don’t want to hear myself anymore.’ It’s weird.”

She also shed some light on where she thinks she fits in with the other people in the industry. “Everybody occupies their own space right now, and that’s really cool,” she says. “You have people like Keith Urban (with) more rock influence, a lot of guitar, more musicianship. You have people that are more on the pop contemporary side. You have really traditional country artists, and I feel like I’m somewhere in the middle of all of that. I want to make country music that everybody can like.”

Becoming such a success has its drawbacks, of course.  She continues:  “I don’t get to see my dad too much or go home as much as I used to. That’s probably the hardest part. There’s so many wonderful things about my life now. Everything is different. My life has done a complete turnabout.”

That is tough but, truthfully, many of us end up moving far away from home in our adulthood and most don’t have the means to get home very often so, really, she might be seeing them more than if she’d pursued that career in journalism.

There are times when I’m scrolling through Carrie Underwood pics for the blog (and, Lord knows, that’s not an uncommon ocurrance…particularly of late) that I am taken a-back by how much she and Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon resemble one another.

I’ve even remarked out loud, to no one in particular, “Man, Reese Witherspoon should totally play Carrie Underwood if they make the movie of her life,” and, as it turns out, I’m not the only one who thinks so!…

…Carrie herself has named Reese as her 1st choice if she had to choose someone to play her in a movie!  During an online chat with The Sun (UK) she admitted that she would love to do more movies after catching the acting bug in Soul Surfer… check out this interview with Carrie talking about her role…

Although she says it’s a little premature to be thinking about a movie of her life being made, Carrie did mention who she has in mind to play her if/when that happens, “If I died tomorrow and they wanted to do a movie about me, I’ve always loved Reese Witherspoon and I feel like we have the same stature.  We’re about the same height and she can sing” says Mrs. Fisher ;)

Of course she was in the UK doing press leading up to her first big tour across the pond and it looks like she’s been doing a good job.  Her first UK show is tonight in London and the concert, at Royal Albert Hall, sold out in less than 30 minutes. (We’ll be looking for the stellar reviews tomorrow! :)  Knock’em dead Carrie!
